Rosebud River Abutment Erosion Repairs
Project type
Bridge Repairs
Date
December 2024
Location
Rosedale, AB
Owner: Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors
Schedule: Actual: 6 days
The Rosebud River Bridge, a historic steel pony-truss structure on Highway 10X, required urgent repairs to address erosion damage and stabilize its north abutment. The project focused on protecting the roadway embankment and preventing further scour around the abutment.
Access BridgeWorks constructed a lock-block retaining wall to stabilize the headslope, installed riprap along the riverbank to prevent future erosion, and built a timber breast wall to retain backfill for long-term stability. Completed in just six days, the project restored the bridge’s structural integrity and ensured its continued safe operation.
